Carle Illinois College of Medicine (CI MED) students have received a new grant that will allow them to increase access to health care resources for the underinsured and uninsured. The students have been awarded the Family Medicine Cares USA existing clinic award grant from the American Academic of Family Physicians (AAFP). It was awarded for the CI MED students’ work and research at the Avicenna Community Health Center, a free clinic for the underinsured and uninsured in Champaign County, Illinois. Cone Health Receives Lifestyle Medicine Education Grant
A visit to a Cone Health doctor may soon be more about avoiding disease than treating it. Greensboro – Cone Health providers, including doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses, and others, will soon have an opportunity to update their knowledge on the links between behaviors, nutrition and chronic diseases. This continuing medical education will teach new, but tested and proven approaches to caring for patients. $126M NIH grant to help map the brain, study diseases like Alzheimer’s
There is still much scientists do not know about the human brain. The Salk Institute recently launched the Center for Multiomic Human Brain Cell Atlas to better understand how brain cells work and change as we grow older. Experts hope findings from the new Center will help create potential therapies for brain-related diseases like Alzheimer’s. Michigan to receive $25 million initial federal grant to address orphan wells
Michigan’s effort to seal abandoned oil and gas wells has received a major funding boost through a $25 million Department of the Interior grant. Made possible by the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act 2021 (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Section 40601, the IIJA stimulus funding includes three tranches of money that states can apply for including an initial grant of up to $25 million, a formula grant, and regulatory improvement grant.
