We conducted a cluster randomized controlled trial in Rwamagana district to determine whether adding a household-based water filter with safe storage to the CBEHPP could be effective in improving drinking water quality. Intervention The intervention under evaluation is the delivery and promotion of the LifeStraw Family 2.0 filters in the CBEHPP program. The filter is a tabletop point-of-use water treatment system that includes an 80 μm pre-filter to remove coarse material, 20 nm hollow-fiber ultrafiltration membrane, backwash lever, and covered storage container with 5.5 L capacity.
