Public Health Medical Specialist job with HSE

Public Health Medical Specialist

The Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting Public Health Medical Specialists (Consultant grade equivalent) with a number of opportunities available across different locations in the Republic of Ireland. The HSE’s Public Health Medicine service seeks to protect and promote the health of the Irish population. Each Department of Public Health is led by a Director of Public Health, assisted by Specialists in Public Health Medicine and a multidisciplinary team. In these dynamic roles, Specialists lead services across the four domains of public health: health protection, health service improvement, health improvement, and health intelligence. In addition, public health medicine in Ireland is undergoing an exciting modernisation and development, with opportunities for further leadership development.

These posts are key to developing the HSE’s Public Health workforce as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic alongside our responsibility to protect the public’s health from infectious diseases and other public health hazards through provision of a 24/7 acute health protection service. Each Specialist is assigned Medical Officer of Health (MOH) functions, which are described at www.hse.ie/moh.

About the HSE

The HSE provides public health and social care services to everyone living in Ireland. Our purpose is to provide safe, high quality health and personal social services to the population of Ireland. Our vision is a healthier Ireland with a high quality health service valued by all.

Our staff are at the core of the delivery of healthcare services, working within and across all care settings in communities, hospitals and healthcare offices.

This is a challenging but exciting time to be joining the HSE, leading the drive to counteract COVID-19 across Ireland and driving the delivery of strategic structural reform to the Public Health service delivery.
