Public Health Medical Specialist job with HSE

Public Health Medical Specialist

The Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting Public Health Medical Specialists (Consultant grade equivalent) with a number of opportunities available across different locations in the Republic of Ireland. The HSE’s Public Health Medicine service seeks to protect and promote the health of the Irish population. Each Department of Public Health is led by a Director of Public Health, assisted by Specialists in Public Health Medicine and a multidisciplinary team. In these dynamic roles, Specialists lead services across the four domains of public health: health protection, health service improvement, health improvement, and health intelligence. In addition, public health medicine in Ireland is undergoing an exciting modernisation and development, with opportunities for further leadership development.

These posts are key to developing the HSE’s Public Health workforce as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic alongside our responsibility to protect the public’s health from infectious diseases and other public health hazards through provision of a 24/7 acute health protection service. Each Specialist is assigned Medical Officer of Health (MOH) functions, which are described at
