Nevada Public Health Training Center launches ‘Vax the Pack’ COVID-19 communications campaign with Fraternity and Sorority Life

The Nevada Public Health Training Center’s #COVIDCrew and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life are hosting a vaccination clinic at Whitaker Park in Reno as part of their “Vax the Pack” campaign in collaboration with REMSA and Immunize Nevada. The clinic will be held at 550 University Terrace from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Every student who gets vaccinated that day will receive a DoughBoys Donuts gift card, good for a free donut and coffee (while supplies last).

“Vax the Pack” is a guerilla-style social marketing campaign, which aims to reach youth ages 18-24 as well as the LantinX community. The May 8 event will launch the first vaccination clinic for the campaign as the students wrap up the semester. The campaign will continue through the summer with alumni and will welcome students back to campus in the fall with another vaccination clinic. The main objectives of the training center, a part of the University of Nevada, Reno’s School of Community Health Sciences, are to address misinformation, provide culturally competent public health information and increase vaccine uptake.

The collaborative campaign includes a video with Director of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority, Ricardo Salazar, and Malia Pruyn, Panhellenic President. In the video, Ricardo, Malia and other University students talk about what motivated them to get vaccinated.
