Cavalier Practices ‘Functional Medicine’ at Optimal Health – Business Journal Daily

CANFIELD Ohio – Optimal Health and Wellness this week marked its first year in business with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house.
The company is owned and operated by Suzanne Cavalier, a nurse practitioner who Optimal Health in March.

The business model is “functional medicine,” Cavalier says, which is individualized to address underlying causes of disease.

As such, she explains, the practice strives to use a natural approach to address health problems, such as diet, exercise, sleep and stress levels.

Other services offered are urgent care for minor illnesses, flu and strep testing, and flu shots by appointment. Telemedicine visits are also available.

Cavalier is a native of the Mahoning Valley. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind., with a BSN degree. In 2013 she earned a master’s in nursing from Youngstown State University.

As health care was changing, “I knew that I wanted to be a nurse practitioner and be able to take time with my patients,” Cavalier says.
So she went back to school and earned her post master’s certificate as a family nurse practitioner from Maryville University.

Before establishing Optimal Health and Wellness, she was employed at a primary care practice in Lisbon.
