Board of Health Appoints New Health Commissioner
CHILLICOTHE— The Board of Health announced that Janelle McManis, MPH, REHS, has been selected as the next Health Commissioner of the Ross County Health District. Her appointment as Health Commissioner will begin in February.
McManis has over 16 years of experience with the Vinton County Health Department, most recently serving as the Administrator and previously serving in multiple administrative roles including Deputy Administrator/Director of Environmental Health and Accreditation Coordinator. As Accreditation Coordinator, McManis led Vinton County Health Department to receive National Accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). Additionally, she is also an Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist and currently serves as a current member of the Ohio Environmental Health Association’s Sewage Technical Committee.
McManis received her Master of Public Health degree in Health Promotion from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree from Capital University. Born in Ross County, she currently resides in Vinton County with her husband and two children.
The Ross County Health District (RCHD), is nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board that works to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Ross County. RCHD is governed by a seven-member board of health and consists of four divisions: Public Health Nursing, Environmental Health, Health Promotion, and Quality Improvement, and Administration.
